Announcing "DooWopDave's Blog" & Note to FB Group Administrators

It's been a long time since I have had my own website and I am looking forward to having a new one again! A lot has changed since I last operated my "Oldies Central Network" website and the changes are for the better!

One of the nicest new changes is the blog section! I love having the opportunity to have a platform to share my videos, projects and links to other sites of interest.

As I work on developing this website, the blog will be the prominent method by which I share links to video uploads and links to some of my friends channels and websites. I will also use the blog to share artist/group bios for those who I spotlight on my You Tube channel.

I have also began producing downloadable digital compilations that I will be making available for direct purchase or as exclusive content through a Patreon Membership subscription. Each digital compilation contains selections from my personal vinyl and digital collection and all songs have been digitally transferred and remixed for high quality sound by yours truly. The downloadable compilations come complete with a printable cover and track inlay for those who wish to burn their own physical CD-R of the collection. My compilations are unique in that a variety of obscure sounds from the 50's & 60's eras are usually represented, not simply one specific genre. They are also unique in that many of the songs featured are unavailable for download through other digital music outlets. In cases where the songs are available elsewhere, the sound quality of my songs are usually better than available elsewhere because I do clean up and enhance the sound for higher quality. So check out my store for available compilations, which will be added to regularly.

A note to my friends in my various Facebook groups, I will no longer be sharing links to individual videos, as I have in the past, but will instead send out a notice of video uploads to my channel on any given day. I belong to many Facebook groups and have always tried to share my available videos to the groups that are tailored to the type of content I share. For example, some groups are strictly doowop, so I try to only share doowop content to those groups. Other groups are limited to specific eras or decades, so I try to only post content which is suited for those groups.

I am primarily a You Tube content creator, so obviously I want my content to be seen and enjoyed by those who appreciate the music videos I share. Because I share musical content of various genres and decades, it is a tedious task to share content to the proper groups all the time. As a FB group administrator myself, I try to respect the rules set up by administrators of other groups I am a part of. Some groups have very strict rules on content and limits on posts. The last thing I want to do is bombard anyone else's group feed. So as an effort to save time as well as not bombard anybody else's group page, I have made the decision to simply send out a daily notice with links to the individual videos within the notice.

As I mentioned before, I am also a FB group founder and administrator, having founded "The Malt Shop" group (formerly "DooWopDave's Malt Shop") back in March of 2017 as a hangout for others who share my passion for the music and nostalgia of the 50's-80's eras. Rather than consider the other similar groups I am apart of as competitors, I have always viewed them all as complimentary to my group and regularly share posts from most all of the groups I am apart of and have always welcomed the promotion of these other groups in the Malt Shop.

That is the same working philosophy I had when I set up and operated my "Oldies Central Network" website over 20 years ago as I invited other oldies and nostalgia related websites to join the network and well over 100 other websites became apart of the OCN. To give an illustration, the OCN was similar to what Drudge did when he created his news site, the Drudge Report. It became a hub for people looking for oldies music and nostalgic sites.

So I will be bringing back many of the same concepts and projects that made my original website successful and I hope you will become a follower to my new website and blog.

One of the features of my old website was promoting contemporary groups/artists who were influenced by the music of the 50's & 60's and who were keeping the sounds alive in their own music. There was no You Tube back in those days so I usually discovered many of these groups and artists by recommendations of fans or the performers themselves.

Thanks to You Tube, I do my own searches and come across many talented singers/songwriters who I am blown away with and want others to discover them too. So I thought I would share one such artist I came across who I think is fantastic but yet who has not received nearly the exposure his talents deserve. So in this blog, I would like to recommend that you check out Terry Harnett, a very talented singer/songwriter from the UK. Below you will find the story of how I first discovered him almost 10 years ago and what I discovered after re-visiting his YT channel a while back. Check out the videos I have featured on my "Spotlight on Terry Harnett" playlist and then visit Terry's channel to encourage him to continue pursuing his career!

Playlist Notes:

Terry Harnett is a singer/songwriter from the UK (if I remember correctly). He has his own You Tube channel featuring several videos of him performing karaoke, acoustic and in concert. He is, like me, a huge fan of Dion and has several videos of him covering some of Dion's hits and, better yet, some of Dion's less known songs. He also has several videos of him covering other hits from the 50's & 60's as well as performing several of his original compositions, which are fantastic. You will also find on his channel several concert videos of him. I attempted to reach his website, which I visited several years ago when I first discovered his You Tube channel, but unfortunately the site appears to be no longer available. I reached out to Terry and informed him of my desire to promote his channel here on my channel in hopes of drawing attention to him. He is very talented and in my opinion should be more well known. So when you finish with the videos in this playlist, why don't you visit Terry's channel to view all the other videos he has available, subscribe and show your appreciation to Terry by commenting on his videos. I am sure he would love to hear from you and your encouragement will hopefully help inspire Terry to keep pressing on in his musical aspirations and post more videos for us all to enjoy.
