Hello Oldies Lovers,
My name is Dave but I'm better known to my online friends as DooWopDave. I have been active online sharing from my vinyl & digital collection since 1996 when I opened my first jukebox web site, "Dave's Doowop Shop". I created several jukebox pages throughout the rest of the 90's through 2003. As well as the "Dave's Doowop Shop" page I also created "DooWopDave's Malt Shop" and "DooWopDave's Nickelodeon" before creating the "Oldies Central Network" website. The "Oldies Central Network" was a link hub to many of the popular 50's & 60's music and nostalgia sites that were popular at the time. As well as being the main host to my websites, other oldies related sites became members of the "Oldies Central Network". I operated that site until 2003 and it was a very popular website for oldies music lovers and nostalgia fans.
In 2003 I made the decision to close down the website for a variety of reasons, mainly because it became too time-consuming to maintain while working 50+ hours at my regular job. Shortly after shutting down the website I discovered Live 365 and created the "Oldies Central Network" internet radio station, which I operated until Live 365 shut down their operations in January of 2016. My station had a very strong listener base and was quite popular overseas in the UK, Sweden, Germany, Italy and Spain, as well as other nations where they were allowed access.
In 2007 I created my "DooWopDave's Malt Shop" channel on You Tube to promote my radio station and share some music videos featuring favorites from my collection. Ironically, I became much more active on my You Tube channel after my radio station was shut down than when it was in operation.
In October of 2018 I started from scratch with my current You Tube channel "The Malt Shop Jukebox" and it has evolved into a much larger operation as I have begun incorporating many of the same concepts I used back when I started with my websites back in the 90's.
My primary focus has always been sharing hard to find and obscure songs from the 50's & 60's as well as promoting contemporary artists and groups that are performing and recording music in the styles popular in the 50's & 60's. However, I have created a sister channel called "Dave's Faves Jukebox" which is dedicated to the hits & misses of artists and groups more familiar to most music lovers. While the "Malt Shop Jukebox" is dedicated to doowop and other teen music popular in the 50's & 60's, my "Faves Jukebox" covers a wide range of musical genres from the 50's to present that I also enjoy.
In addition to my You Tube channel, in March of 2017 I founded "The Malt Shop" Facebook group, formerly known as "DooWopDave's Malt Shop". As of this writing, we have 12,700 members and it is a very active group with friendly members who share their favorite music, trivia and other nostalgia and memories! I also have as a co-administrator one of the nicest hostesses in Donna Lopez, who I have dubbed the "Queen of the Malt Shop". Donna has taken on the task of ensuring that the group is free of spammers and other troublemakers who like to stir up strife and keeps a close eye to make sure all members enjoy hanging out in "The Malt Shop". It's a labor of passion for both Donna and I and the group has grown into a wonderful place to hang out and make new friends with common interests related to the music and nostalgia of the 50's-80's. I invite you to visit and join our group!

As a side hobby born out of presenting the musical content on my websites, radio stations and You Tube channels, since the mid-90's I have learned the fine art of remastering music, particularly as it relates to transferring the vinyl recordings to the digital domain to produce high quality sound files and enhancing the songs to crisp and clear quality as good, if not better, than what one typically would get on commercial CDs featuring these types of recordings. That has led me to offer my services as a self contractor to anyone who has a collection of vinyl records sitting around collecting dust and would like to have them transferred to the digital domain so they can enjoy their favorites again, especially if they are not readily available in the digital world. This business is called "Dave's Vinyl Restoration Project".
Finally, in October of 2020 my 37 year career in the manufacturing industry came to an end when I was permanently laid off from my job as a machinist due to a work slow down caused in large part by the Covid-19 epidemic. During my years in the manufacturing business I spent all but 7 years on the shop floor setting up and operating manual, automatic and CNC machines. The other 7 years I served as the Operations Manager in a company my brother started up. When I was notified that I was losing my job last October, I made the decision (based largely on health issues) that I could no longer return to that type of work and that I needed to make a career change.
The need for a career change (coupled with the fact that my wife is suffering from serious health issues and I have to help her do things that aren't nearly as easy for her now as in the past) has led me to decide I need to work from home. My job searches for a suitable work-at-home job has been fruitless. I have no desire to be a telemarketer or bill collector! So, after much contemplation, I have decided to use the skills I have developed over the past 25 years related to all my online musical endeavors and what was once a hobby has now become my livelihood.
I have created a Patreon page to offer exclusive content for those who subscribe to support my work producing audio/video content for my You Tube channels and the vinyl restoration services I will be offering. I invite you to visit my Patreon page for more information on subscription plans and benefits.
I will be using this blog as a means of communication with my subscribers and will be sharing content and merchandise updates here. I will also be writing articles related to my hobby as a record collector including group/artist bios on recent uploads to my channel. I will also be sharing many stories about my life as part of the "greaser" culture and as that relates to my love for the 50's era music and nostalgia. I can promise that these stories will be very entertaining and often humorous and every story told exactly as it happened without any embellishing of any of the facts! There is no need for that!
Below you will find the links to all my online projects and pages!
Hope you stop back again as I will become very active on this blog!
Till next time,
Dave
